  • On Blogging for Real ....

Much of my blogging these days has been rather
timid and trivial. You know I'm about making things.
Selling them. And taking pictures of all this activity.

But, there is a deep river running through that I haven't
shared with you. It's always hard for me because my
relationship with Christ is so intimate. However?
The Word encourages the sharing of GOOD NEWS!

So ... I'm going to give you a piece of my heart today.

I devote a portion of everyday - mostly early in the day -
but, with all the powers of hell continually fighting me to keep
me from the Truth? Sometimes it is LATE in the day before
I come to that place of Rest and seek the Mind of Christ!

Now granted. Even if it is late - I am continually lifting my voice
to the Father. For mercy. Grace. Strength. Wisdom. I am still
training my daughters - and that is quite a job with which I need
ALL of His help and guidance!!!!

I usually start with a wonderful little devotional book called -
"Daily Strength for Daily Needs" by Mary Wilder Tileston

Then I turn to the Word.
This year I decided to not read the Bible cover to cover.
I have done that 3 years in a row - and I wanted time to
just meditate on a verse, on a passage or on a book. I've
read through quite a few books. Been led to Joshua, Habakkuk,
John, Titus, Proverbs, the Psalms. And more.

Each day.  He speaks directly to my heart. No matter the source.
    Always through His Word.

    Sometimes it's Tilestons book,
    sometimes it's a Song.

    Sometimes?
He tells me He loves me by showing me a Little Blue Heron ....

    a Snapping Turtle  or

    a White Tail Deer

Now you may think "big deal".  It's a bird. A turtle. A deer.
But, let me tell you. I live about a quarter of a mile from the busiest
highway in NC!!!! Behind the MALL for heaven's sake!
This is NOT a Bird Sanctuary or an Animal Refuge!!!
    All of those
beautiful creatures? Were seen by me while I was walking around
the perimeter of the apartment complex I now live in!

Then. Just this week. My neighbor invited me over to witness the blooms
of a MoonFlower!   It grows in a pot on her pretty little patio! It was spectacular!!!

I very rarely just sit down at the computer and write.
I take notes, lessons and prayers and write them out longhand
in my notebook. Then sometimes I share them here. But, that's
    been a long time.

What I'm trying to say today?

I want to give you more.

I want to share His Love with you.
    His HOPE.
The Desires He has created in my heart.

I want you to feel His Presence the way I feel it.
I want you to hear His Voice.
And touch the very hem of His garment!

And I feel inadequate. But, I'm going to try.
    Because He compels me to.

    With Love.
    And Hope.
    For a new day.

    Your Friend.
    B.

  • That was lovely and inspiring.

  • Thanks for sharing your thoughts here.  I have just started reading the Bible through, I've only read it through once before.  I find it really interesting (except the begats maybe).  So much in the OT.

  • Thanks for sharing some of the deeper places of your heart.  What has been life to you will be life to others, as you share from your heart and spirit......this post was like a cool refreshing breeze!

  • That was really something.  You have a gift with writing and I am thankful you shared that.

  • B... I've just downloaded the devotional you mentioned! I love the writing from that period and the early 1900's.  I found an amazing little devotional at an antiques store that had daily scripture readings and notes from 365 preachers from the US, Canada and Great Britain circa 1931... it has fast become one of my favorites, up there with "My Utmost for His Highest". Thanks for the inspiration.
